We don't collect
your data.
Prombt is a local-first browser extension. Your API keys never leave your device. Your prompts go directly to the AI provider you choose — not to us.

1. Overview
Prombt ("the extension", "we", "us") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you optimize AI prompts on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok. This policy explains what data the extension handles, how it is used, and what we never do with it.
The short version: we collect nothing. There are no servers, no analytics, no accounts, and no telemetry of any kind.
2. Data the extension handles locally
AI provider API keys
When you enter an API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI) in the extension settings,
it is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored in browser.storage.local on your
device. The key is never transmitted to any server operated by Prombt. It is only
sent directly to the AI provider's own API endpoint when you trigger an optimization.
Your prompt text
When you click the Prombt button, the text currently typed in the AI chat editor is read from the page, sent directly to your chosen AI provider's API using your own API key, and the optimized result is written back to the editor. This text is never stored by the extension and is never sent to any server controlled by Prombt.
Extension preferences
Your selected AI provider, chosen model, and enabled/disabled state are stored locally
in browser.storage.local. This data never leaves your browser.
3. Data we do not collect
- Personal identifiable information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or web activity
- Prompt content or conversation history
- Usage statistics or telemetry
- Crash reports or error logs
- Device identifiers or IP addresses
- Cookies or tracking pixels
4. Third-party AI providers
When you use Prombt to optimize a prompt, the text is sent to the AI provider API you have configured. Your use of those services is governed by their respective privacy policies:
Prombt has no affiliation with these providers and does not receive any data from your interactions with them.
5. Permissions
The extension requests the following browser permissions, each with a specific purpose:
storage Saves your encrypted API keys and preferences locally in your browser.
Host access (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, grok.com, x.com) Reads your typed prompt from the chat editor and writes the optimized result back to it. Access is strictly limited to these six AI chat domains.
6. Open source
Prombt is fully open source. You can audit every line of code — including the encryption implementation, the API calls, and the storage layer — on GitHub.
